The Bell Inn is situated in North Suffolk, the heart of East Anglia, just off the A143, approximately 7 miles south west of Diss and 14 miles North East of Bury St. Edmunds.
From a historical and cultural point of view, there is plenty to see and do with the Abbey Ruins, Cathedral, Museums and Art Gallery in Bury St. Edmunds, The Museum of East Anglian Life in Stowmarket, Wingfield Arts College, Bressingham Gardens and Steam Museum and Knettishall Country Park all being within a 30-minute drive. Ipswich and Norwich, with their many attractions are only one hour away using the nearby A140.
The popular Coastal Resorts of Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Felixstowe and the attractive picturesque Southwold, Aldeburgh and Dunwich can be easily driven within an hour to make a perfect day out.
The village itself has a local Co-Op, fish and chip shop a Chinese take away, coffee/art shop along with another pub.

We stopped off here on the way to Lowestoft for lunch. What a gem of a place. Not only was the food delicious (best fish I’ve had for a long... read more time). But the service was welcoming, efficient and really first rate. The lady who served us was so helpful and we got served really quickly along a relaxed atmosphere. I don’t usually do reviews but I felt in this case that The Bell Inn deserves a fabulous mention. Thanks so much.

We enjoyed olives... read more and then fish and chips and a burger. There was a wait but staff had informed us right from the start. It's a lovely pub with great attention to detail such as having blankets for outside tables. We really enjoyed our food and the friendly service . Thank you we will be back

The short rib of beef was melt in the mouth, a good sized, well priced portion of food. Not to mention the dessert, if their genius of a Greek chef has made her famous orange filo pie, make sure to leave some room, not to be missed!

14th February 2023 - Lovely Sunday Lunch - We were looking for a last minute Sunday lunch, tahnks to Tripadvisor we found the Bell Inn and thought we'd give it a go. We're local, but never been before,... read more but were very pleased with the food we had. Arriving at 12, we were the only ones there for 20 minutes, but then it started to fill up (we obvioulsy eat early on a Sunday!). The traditional roast was lovely, good variety on the plate including red cabbage, parsnip and swede mix, it had great flavour and a huge yorkshire pudding! Dessert was just as good and all reasonably priced (£68 for three of us, two courses, drinks and a well deserved tip). So hopefully this will return the favour and someone else looking for a decent Sunday lunch in mid-Suffolk will stop by. Adventurer165483
5th February 2023 Fantastic food, service and very family friendly - We visited the Bell for a friend's pre Christmas lunch. Between us we had 3 toddlers and 2 babies. The team could not have been more accommodating, making us feel... read more very relaxed (which isn't alway easy when you are trying to keep little ones occupied!).
The food was delicious, seasonal menu and a great selection. I had the pheasant followed by crème brulé and a cheeky glass of house red.
We will be back again in the New Year.
