Bar Area

Whether you are catching up with friends and family or just passing through, the Bell is the perfect place to sit back and relax, with local guest ales, craft largers, gin shelf, open fire in the winter months, board games, communal book exchange, cosy corners and a great atmosphere.

Dog treats and beers are available for your four-legged friend. Our dog treat suppliers are Sir Woofchester’s.

We won ‘Pub of the Year 2024’ at the Velvet* Food & Drink Awards in June 2024 and here’s what the Judge had to say…

Says judge Giles Luckett: “Last year’s runner-up is this year’s winner. The Bell is a traditional country pub with an extensive menu ranging from the expected (Homemade Pies) to the exotic (Jackfruit burger). Most importantly, it’s dog-friendly and treats were provided on arrival. Portions were plentiful, there was a choice of alcohol-free beers – helpful as most people will have driven – and the staff were friendly and accommodating. It was also good value. They have rooms and it would be a fine place to stay as you explore the pretty village and the surrounding area.”

An ideal place to catch up with friends over a few Drinks, Snacks and Board Games.

We also have a great selection of Toys, Games and Colouring for the little ones too.

star rating  Eaten here numerous times livi g just down the road, and only just thought of putting a review. Food is always great, but recently it has been the best it... read more has been. The prices are incredibly reasonable, and the food is phenomenal. Had one of the best 3 course meals of my life on New Year’s Day, and was shocked when I was only asked for 23 quid! Had mushroom with a garlic cream sauce, a minted pea and asparagus risotto, and a sticky toffee pudding, and everything was perfect. Quite literally couldn’t find a fault, and the 5 other people were exactly the same. A couple of the others had a Seafood tagliatelle and there was nearly more seafood than pasta! Altogether a pretty stunning meal.

So we headed back to the area we... read more had rented a cottage and tried the Bell Inn which I had passed by the previous day (going to the co op!) Very welcoming lady took the booking on the phone and we arrived within the hour. We were a bit early so sat on a table outside for a drink first. Before we could even decide if we needed to order inside at the bar, a friendly chap appeared at the table ready to take our order straight away! Well the food was delicious - butternut squash soup a must! But we wanted to compliment the 3 servers (two chaps and one lady who we assumed was the manageress). Not only were they serving inside and out, taking drinks and food to tables they were also checking in guests to the hotel rooms at the pub. A very well run establishment - friendly helpful staff and tasty food served to a high quality to boot.
