Stag is a King bed in a cosy room with smaller ensuite shower, situated above the bar and kitchen area in the original part of the Pub with character and original features. This is one of the smaller rooms we have.

Friendly service - We stayed here for one night after my parents treated us to a voucher for bed, breakfast and evening meal. Having seen the price of the rooms I would have... read more been disappointed if I had paid that amount!
Room was spotless, but small, and directly above the kitchen - chef clearly likes to shout! No bath, which was a shame, but a good shower which sadly ran cold every couple of minutes. Bed very squashy.
Evening meal was ok; I think I just made the wrong choice in the falafel burger. Husband’s pork belly looked beautiful, but sadly no crackling. Desserts were huge and tasty.
Breakfast was disappointing - small selection of cereals, no fruits, yoghurts or pastries. Full English was very small, just one rasher of bacon, one sausage, one mushroom, 1/2 tomato, baked beans and one deep fried hash brown.
Staff however are very friendly :)

20th June 2021 Found this lovely pub just searching for something quiet and not too expensive for a night and so pleased with our choice. Lovely welcome by great , friendly people and... read more were able to check in early. Room was cosy, clean and a fan was already provided as it was warm. Beds were comfy and we had all we needed and our pooch was spoiled with treats. The evening meal was great, fast service even though very busy , superb atmosphere with a folk band who were quiet enough not to disturb us when we retired. Breakfast was just right. Parking very easy on private car park. For the price we paid £89, including breakfast,excellent value and we will visit again. 5 stars thoroughly deserved .

28th August 2022 - Fantastic food, service and very family friendly - We visited the Bell for a friend's pre Christmas lunch. Between us we had 3 toddlers and 2 babies. The team could not have been more accommodating, making us feel... read more very relaxed (which isn't alway easy when you are trying to keep little ones occupied!).
The food was delicious, seasonal menu and a great selection. I had the pheasant followed by crème brulé and a cheeky glass of house red.
We will be back again in the New Year.

There was a good selection of real ales; light & dark; those tried were in excellent condition,... read more we had a very enjoyable Sunday lunch, the food was very tasty & plentiful. Adding to the atmosphere was the open fire, which was welcome on a cold day! (No smell of smoke either, it drew very well!) We came into contact with several of the people working there, they were all very obliging & looked after us as if we were old friends. We look forward to a return visit at some point, hopefully on a Fri or Sat evening for a live band. It would be worth the 70 mile round trip for us!

10th December 2021 - My brother's 40th celebration. - I dont think I've ever been to a venue which was catering for more than about 6 people per table where someone hasn't winged about something being cold, too small,... read more too long a wait etc. This was CERTAINLY the exception to the rule, especially as the pub itself catered for close to 100 people this particular evening. We had "The Snug" upstairs which was a private room for about 18 of us.
The food and service was second to none all evening and I can not thank the staff enough for giving my brother a special evening to remember. Jordan and her staff bent over backwards to accommodate us at quite short notice and was more than happy to help us out with a few late requests.
I would recommend this pub to anyone wanting a relaxed and value- for- money meal.

I had venison accompanied with a beautiful mash some veg and a jus. It was fantastically cooked absolutely lovely meal.
